Fashion Week New York

He started the fashion week in New York amid phenomena that make a strong trend for creators and designers: The first exodus of brands that were born and raised in this event, to migrate and present their collections across the world, in the old continent. The second is political tensions and environmental phenomena that lead us to reflect on the consumption of luxury brands.. Either way, this is the event that opens the fashion season and sets the trends for the following year. Here is a summary of some of the catwalks that have caught my attention the most.

Tom Ford

Presented a sexy catwalk where Ultra high stiletto heels predominated, with large jackets very marked shoulders and transparencies. He highlighted one of the biggest trends of the moment, what is sportswear or Athleisure where comfortable elements are combined, sexy and luxurious like the look that opened the show: A pale pink satin tuxedo jacket, a liquid metal top and short shorts with double hem. Without neglecting the powerful woman with strong shoulder garments in transparent fabrics and very tight to the body. Definitely Tom Ford stood out for creating a collection for various tastes: chic outfits and others that defy all standards, less those of a risky and very confident woman.

Jason Wu

He made his models bloom like they do in spring, in fact, the catwalk was full of flowers. This collection had a more sporty or casual touch, which is a relative term for the designer, Well, some outfits were made up of separate garments and striped shirts that in themselves have a sporty air, but without neglecting the femininity and elegance of her garments such as the gray dress and skirt without seam lines in the details. Very colorful small floral prints were seen on black or white backgrounds, dresses in dark colors with drapes, combination of fabrics and cuts that revealed a little skin.

Calvin Klein

The proposal of Raf Simmons the creative director of the brand continues with a very North American theme, wants to reflect through its designs what is the culture of this country. Calvin Klein is a benchmark brand in the United States and a bastion of American fashion. His Sweet Dreams runway had a dramatic touch inspired by Hollywood horror movies and had the collaboration of the Sterling Ruby (contemporary American artist), Here art meets fashion. The serious question: Up to what point, all garments in the collection can be used? The colors of the collection were: blood red, verde, sky blue and gold.

Carolina Herrera

This designer's collection is an ode to elegance, as always. She said it herself: “You have to be doing something that you really believe in. I think women should be glamorous at this point in their life” and that coherence was seen on the catwalk. The different garments were created with a color palette that was very cheerful with shades like yellow, Red, purple, blue and pink. The designer knows that the world has changed and there is flexibility in the wardrobe, so he brought the art of being well dressed to a more casual world. This was reflected in garments such as a white round-neck shirt with a wide-boot jean and colored buttons and a shirt dress with a striped flared skirt.. Garments with colored stripes like those of the rainbow were also seen and evening dresses were not lacking.

Oscar de la Renta

This collection was very special, with the designer's signature literally speaking. Full of a youthful air, but with the style that characterized Oscar de la Renta "designing for a feminine and elegant woman". The fun air was given by the colors and the way in which the signature Oscar de la Renta was embodied in his handwriting on various garments, like a tuxedo style jacket, full of signatures. The designers of the brand Laura Kim and Fernando García began to create this collection from thank you notes to the fashion house and the connection of people with the brand. Dresses with the word Oscar and the letters of different colors in sequin, They looked beautiful on the catwalk and very funny. In the new fashion paradigm where everything is more and more casual, the challenge is to create relevant and different garments to remain current in a luxury market.
